Greece Offers €200 Voucher for Fiber Internet - Deadline December 31

If you’re living in Greece and thinking about upgrading your internet connection, now is the time to act. There are only a few days left to apply for the Gigabit Voucher, a government-backed program that offers €200 toward a fiber-optic internet connection. The application deadline is December 31, and after that, the opportunity is gone.

Launched in November 2024 by Greece’s Ministry of Digital Governance, the Gigabit Voucher program is designed to help more households switch to FTTH (Fiber to the Home) - high-speed internet delivered directly to your apartment or house. Faster speeds, more stable connections, and lower upfront costs are the main goals.

What does the €200 voucher cover?

The Gigabit Voucher helps reduce the cost of moving to fiber internet in two key ways:

  • it covers the initial connection and installation fees,

  • it reduces the monthly subscription cost for the first 24 months.

The voucher is granted once per household and cannot be combined with other national or EU subsidies.

Who is eligible?

According to the official guidelines, the program is open to households that:

  • do not currently have an internet connection faster than 100 Mbps download,

  • live in areas included in the Gigabit Voucher program,

  • have not received similar internet-related subsidies in the past.

After approval, applicants receive a voucher number by email and SMS. This number is then provided to the chosen internet service provider to activate the discount.

Requirements for internet providers

Only offers published on the official Gigabit Voucher platform qualify for the program. These plans must meet strict technical and pricing requirements, including:

  • minimum speeds of 250 Mbps download or 100 Mbps symmetrical, available even during peak hours,

  • inclusion of all necessary end-user equipment, such as a modem or router,

  • a discount equal to or greater than the voucher value, compared to similar plans offered before the program was announced.

The Gigabit Voucher may also be relevant for digital nomads and remote workers in Greece, but only in specific cases. To qualify, you need to rent long-term and set up the internet contract in your own name, effectively registering as a household at a fixed address. Those staying short-term, using Wi-Fi included in their rental, or relying on coworking spaces generally do not meet the eligibility criteria.

For many residents and long-term renters, this is a last chance to upgrade to fiber internet at a lower cost and enjoy a faster, more reliable connection. With remote work becoming the norm, stable internet is no longer a luxury - it’s a necessity. December 31 is the final deadline, and applications submitted after that date will not be accepted.
